It is the day after Remembrance Day, the day after the end of the Second World War. But not the end of War and conflict.
It was the early hours of this morning when I remembered that i was going to aim to only spending about £30.00 per week on shopping (food.) Over the last few months I do not believe that I have done well in reaching that goal, with the Big C on the way I know that I am likely to overspend.
Overspend and buy things that I do not need, in result wasting food.

This really dose worry me and is some thing that I personally would like to try and prevent myself from doing in the future.
When I lived on my own, I always budget. My cupboards were always full of boxes dated for the month so that my meals were planed out and I could feed myself until pay day. My fridge and freezer were also stocked up (mainly with ready meals for one.) so that I could eat when I got home at 1am after being at work for over 12 hours.
But a lot of the packaging worried me too, due to it always ending up in land fulls, this is due to so many things still not being made from materials that can be recycled.

In this day and age it makes me so mad that we still waste so much and that even local authority do not seem to really be doing and thing about it. In my home town Nuneaton, recycling always seams to be a big issue but yet nothing is really achieved.
Despite the councils best efforts it is appears to be costing more when people try to recycle than if this never bothered at all.

Looking though the books I need to look to a Recipe with Rice and Vegetables, this is because I only really have them on board at the moment.
Also I have not have time to source any thing from the Towpath today. I will be using all of the books to try and cook at lest one Item per day over the course of the next 12 months.
I will also try to stick to the following when sourcing the ingredients in making any thing that is in the books that I use.

For almost two years now I have tried to only.
Buy UK (British) or EU Products.
Recyclable or less packaging as possible.
No MSG
No artificial sugar.
No Palm Oil.

I will also insure that everything is safe to eat, washed and cook correctly. I may at times have to use a substitute or add ingredients.
